The rest of the league had time to spare on Solomon Byrd; the Packers did not wait, grabbing him 38 spots ahead at pick No. 219. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.

That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. That is an offensive lineman worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly.

They went 4 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.

A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
