Start where it matters. The Patriots took Jayden Daniels to run the offense for the next decade, and every other decision this weekend bends around that one. Good, not great, and the B says as much.
They banked enough surplus on Coleman to cover a lot of smaller sins. The Paul reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a passer to set the clock by. A clean fit for the roster.
No drama and no debate, Ja'Tavion Sanders went about where he belonged in the 34th overall pick. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Value said wait; Patrick Paul in slot 39 says they were not listening. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Xavier Legette at Round 2, Pick 15 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
You do not let a wide receiver like Keon Coleman reach pick No. 68 and blink. They did not. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Nothing to complain about; Christian Mahogany went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Ben Sinnott this early at the 106th pick. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A big swing on Kitan Oladapo at No. 136, well ahead of any board in the building. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They paid up for Elijah Jones at No. 179 when waiting would have done the job. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
They will replay Daijun Edwards at slot 231 for years; that is how good the value is. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
