The Buccaneers bet big and early on Jacob Rodriguez, 26 picks ahead of the board. Bold does not always mean right. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.
Landing Gyllenborg that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. A whole weekend of picks and interior defensive lineman is somehow still a want. Offensive lineman is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 15 they get a premier pass rusher, though they paid up to get him. A clean fit for the roster.
Jacob Rodriguez at No. 46 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A minor itch, scratched.
A conviction pick on Bryce Lance at pick 80 that the board grades a round light. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Treydan Stukes at slot 116 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Beau Stephens in the 155th overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A tidy little value on Jeff Caldwell in the 195th pick, a step better than break-even. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A reach on Keyshaun Elliott in No. 211; the board had better options right there. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
By-the-book stuff, Robert Spears-Jennings at slot 229 squarely in line with his ranking. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
John Michael Gyllenborg at the 250th overall pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
