There is reaching, and then there is Charles Grant at slot 66. The Chiefs jumped the board by 21 and dared it to prove them wrong. Call it a sensible B-, earned the boring way.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up. The Grant steal is the beam this whole class leans on.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes. The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 32 they get a wrecking ball inside, outstanding value to boot.
A straight-up fair deal on Gunnar Helm at the 64th overall pick, value and slot in agreement. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Value said wait; Charles Grant in Round 3, Pick 2 says they were not listening. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Ajani Cornelius in the 96th pick is fair value, right on his grade. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
No drama and no debate, Jaylin Noel went about where he belonged in the Round 4 slot. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
