The rest of the league had time to spare on Will Kacmarek; the Bears did not wait, grabbing him 76 spots ahead at pick No. 241. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B.
Wallace III at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. Leaving running back unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
Sonny Styles in the 29th overall pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Dani Dennis-Sutton. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A reasonable price with a little left over, A.J. Haulcy in the Round 2 slot. It adds depth where they could use a little.
The board had Jake Slaughter higher than the 74th pick, and the offensive lineman fell to them anyway. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A premium they did not need to pay, DeMonte Capehart a notch or two before his time. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A slide stopped in slot 163, with Charles Demmings worth more than the price. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Keagen Trost is a better player than slot 196 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Harrison Wallace III in No. 239 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A big swing on Will Kacmarek at the 241st pick, well ahead of any board in the building. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
