When the story of this class is written, it opens with Jawhar Jordan at pick 182, a reach of 81 spots that the board flatly disagrees with.
They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. The Stover pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with edge rusher, interior defensive lineman and other spots still on the board.
Landing Coleman that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain.
A strong weekend's work, and a rare one to find this little fault with.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 21st pick they get a building block for the line. A clean fit for the roster.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Kingsley Suamataia in the 34th overall pick, miles early. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They did well to land Bo Nix in the Round 2 slot, just ahead of his grade. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Keon Coleman slipping to No. 53 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A want over a need in Round 3, Pick 2: Cade Stover adds a TE-EDGE while edge rusher, interior defensive lineman and other spots keeps waiting.
Value said wait; Cam Hart in slot 68 says they were not listening. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
A big swing on Johnny Wilson at the Round 4 slot, well ahead of any board in the building. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Jawhar Jordan this early at the 182nd pick. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Kingsley Eguakun in No. 229 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
