The Commanders spent the pick that matters most on Jayden Daniels, and a roster that has been waiting on a passer can start to take shape. Just about everything broke right, and the A- follows.
They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. They punted on tight end, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
On value alone, Nubin makes the weekend a net positive.
Add it up and few war rooms did better this weekend, Jayden Daniels and all.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 8th pick they get a franchise quarterback at fair value. A real need, handled.
A slide stopped in the 36th overall pick, with Brian Thomas Jr. worth more than the price. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
No edge and no loss on Darius Robinson in pick 40; it is a wash and a sensible one. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
You do not let a safety like Tyler Nubin reach Round 3, Pick 3 and blink. They did not. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Mike Sainristil at No. 78 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They paid up for Matt Goncalves at slot 100 when waiting would have done the job. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They took Mason McCormick at par in the Round 5 slot, which is nothing to complain about. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They liked Xavier Thomas enough to skip the value, taking him in pick No. 152. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They barely believed it either: Steele Chambers still on the board at the 222nd overall pick. A minor itch, scratched.
