The Packers put a flag in the ground for Eyabi Okie-Anoma, 39 picks before anyone else would have, and the value took the hit. The bottom line is a respectable B.
Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. That is a cornerback worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly.
They punted on interior defensive lineman, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the interior defensive lineman spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
They took Cooper DeJean at par in the Round 1 slot, which is nothing to complain about. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Nothing to complain about; Xavier Legette went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A tidy bit of business in pick No. 58, where Edgerrin Cooper graded well above the range. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Value with a capital V on Max Melton in slot 88, a genuine coup. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They did well to land Trey Benson in the 91st pick, just ahead of his grade. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Ben Sinnott in Round 3, Pick 29, miles early. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They talked themselves into Mason McCormick at the Round 4 slot, and the board did not agree. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Joe Milton III at pick 169 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Taking Ro Torrence in the 202nd pick is close to grand larceny; a cornerback that good had no business lasting this long. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A clean, defensible pick in Round 6, Pick 44 with a little surplus value in Garret Greenfield. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
By-the-book stuff, JD Bertrand at the 220th overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Eyabi Okie-Anoma well ahead of where he belonged. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Khalid Duke at pick No. 255 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
