If confidence were a draft strategy, the Packers would have aced it. Isaac Guerendo at the 91st overall pick is 38 spots clear of where he belonged.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up. The Ford steal is the beam this whole class leans on.
Edge rusher is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 25 they get a long-term starter on the line. A real need, handled.
Fair-plus on Xavier Legette, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A clean, defensible pick in the 58th pick with a little surplus value in Payton Wilson. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
A slide stopped in pick No. 88, with Max Melton worth more than the price. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A wild overpay on Isaac Guerendo in No. 91, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They talked themselves into Mason McCormick at slot 126, and the board did not agree. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Justin Rogers at the 169th overall pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. The roster fit checks out.
Eric Watts in the Round 6 slot is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Jaylan Ford in No. 219. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
Josh Proctor in pick 245 is fair value, right on his grade. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
A big swing on Matt Lee at pick No. 255, well ahead of any board in the building. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
