You build a draft on nights like this. Jordan James had no business being available in the 237th pick, and the Packers did the only sane thing and turned in the card. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.
The Dumervil reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
Edge rusher is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
A tidy little value on Shemar Stewart in No. 23, a step better than break-even. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Elic Ayomanor at slot 54 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Value with a capital V on Darien Porter in pick No. 87, a genuine coup. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
O'Donnell Fortune at the 122nd pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Darius Alexander at the 158th overall pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Steal is underselling it; Jeffrey Bassa at Round 6, Pick 21 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Jordan James at the Round 7 slot is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They reached a country mile for Marcus Dumervil at pick 250, and the board is aghast. The roster fit checks out.
