For all the names on the card, the loudest question went unanswered. The Giants walked out of the weekend still thin at edge rusher, a hole that has a way of deciding seasons.
They are betting Johnson proves the room right and everyone else wrong. Raridon falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. The roster is better shaped than it was, with interior defensive lineman chief among the fixes.
Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 5th overall pick they get a cornerstone up front. Exactly the need they had to hit.
They did well to land Omar Cooper Jr. in the Round 2 slot, just ahead of his grade. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Darrell Jackson Jr. in Round 4, Pick 5. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Eli Raridon is a better player than slot 145 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Anez Cooper in No. 186 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A reach on Dalton Johnson in pick No. 192; the board had better options right there. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
No edge and no loss on Red Murdock in pick 193; it is a wash and a sensible one. It adds depth where they could use a little.
