Somebody in the 233rd pick was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Cowboys sat still while Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint, the No. 195 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium.
The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 24th overall pick they get a long-term starter on the line at a price that makes it sweeter. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Payton Wilson at Round 2, Pick 24 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Brandon Dorlus slid further than he should have, and the Round 3 slot is lovely value for the edge rusher. It adds depth where they could use a little.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Dillon Johnson in pick 174. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They robbed the room for Johnny Dixon here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A top-tier wide receiver at a bargain, Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint in No. 233, plain and simple. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They let Trevin Wallace come to them and pounced at slot 244. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
