The war room fell hard for Deven Eastern, and it showed at slot 237: 42 picks ahead of a board that had other ideas. No fireworks, but a solid B+.
If one pick saves this weekend, it is Cameron. The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 26 they get a cornerstone up front at fair value. Need was not the driver here.
D'Angelo Ponds slid further than he should have, and the 62nd overall pick is lovely value for the cornerback. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They barely believed it either: Germie Bernard still on the board at No. 76. A need, and now a little less of one.
A tidy bit of business in pick 85, where Kamari Ramsey graded well above the range. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Value with a capital V on Kyle Louis in slot 99, a genuine coup. The roster fit checks out.
Nothing to complain about; Darrell Jackson Jr. went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Brenen Thompson in No. 121 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A real head-scratcher, Drew Allar in the 135th pick is miles ahead of his ranking. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A slide stopped in the 161st overall pick, with Isaiah World worth more than the price. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
They did well to land Tanner Koziol in Round 5, Pick 27, just ahead of his grade. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They paid sticker price for Kaelon Black in pick No. 216, and that is fine. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A wide receiver of that caliber at slot 224 is the definition of value, full stop. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, TJ Hall at pick 230. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They reached into another round for Deven Eastern, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
