The value of the weekend has a name and a slot: Taylen Green, Round 7, Pick 8, roughly 36 picks past where he belonged. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.
A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want. With edge rusher unsolved, spending premium capital on offensive lineman is the choice that costs them.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 26 they get a building block for the line. More want than need.
The board had D'Angelo Ponds higher than No. 59, and the cornerback fell to them anyway. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
The board fumbled Caleb Banks all the way to Round 3, Pick 12, and they scooped it up. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A surprising call. With edge rusher still to address, they spent pick 85 on Caleb Tiernan, an offensive lineman they were not short of.
A interior defensive lineman of that caliber at the 99th pick is the definition of value, full stop. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They barely believed it either: Elijah Sarratt still on the board at pick No. 107. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Carson Beck at the Round 4 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A tidy bit of business in the 129th overall pick, where Davison Igbinosun graded well above the range. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They paid sticker price for Jakobe Thomas in Round 4, Pick 35, and that is fine. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Tanner Koziol in the Round 5 slot is fair value, right on his grade. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A market-rate linebacker, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Bryce Boettcher. It fills a real need, too.
No drama and no debate, Jadon Canady went about where he belonged in the 216th pick. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Taylen Green in the 224th overall pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Zavion Thomas at No. 230 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the wide receiver. The roster fit checks out.
Aiden Fisher at slot 237 is money in the bank, a linebacker taken below his worth. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Nothing to complain about; Terion Stewart went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A need, and now a little less of one.
