They will call it conviction in the building and a reach everywhere else: Behren Morton, 86 picks early at slot 230. No fireworks, but a solid B.
The Fields pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
On the needs board they went 6 of 9, with quarterback the one that mattered most. Value over need was the throughline, for better and worse.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 21st overall pick they get a sticky cover corner at a price that makes it sweeter. A clean fit for the roster.
Value with a capital V on Emmanuel Pregnon in Round 2, Pick 21, a genuine coup. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Antonio Williams in the 76th pick. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Dontay Corleone in pick 86 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They robbed the room for Jacob Rodriguez here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A need, and now a little less of one.
You do not let a safety like Kamari Ramsey reach the Round 4 slot and blink. They did not. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Circle this one: Malachi Fields at No. 135 is a fall that decides a draft. The roster fit checks out.
Dametrious Crownover at Round 5, Pick 21 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
No drama and no debate, Tyren Montgomery went about where he belonged in the Round 6 slot. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They did well to land Jeremiah Wright in the 224th overall pick, just ahead of his grade. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Behren Morton. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
