You build a draft on nights like this. Aaron Anderson had no business being available in pick 220, and the Bills did the only sane thing and turned in the card.
A whole weekend of picks and interior defensive lineman is somehow still a want. They will need Rodriguez to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with linebacker chief among the fixes. The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick-by-Pick
CJ Allen at the 57th pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Jacob Rodriguez at the 60th overall pick jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Elijah Sarratt at the Round 3 slot is money in the bank, a wide receiver taken below his worth. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
By-the-book stuff, Bryce Lance at No. 91 squarely in line with his ranking. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Davison Igbinosun at slot 126 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Louis Moore in pick 165 is fair value, right on his grade. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A offensive lineman of that caliber at Round 5, Pick 28 is the definition of value, full stop. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Bryce Boettcher in pick No. 182 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Somehow Aaron Anderson was still sitting there in pick 220, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
