The Packers did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Billy Bowman Jr. fell into the 159th pick.
If Grant pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
Cornerback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 24 they get a pocket-collapsing interior rusher. A real need, handled.
A wild overpay on Charles Grant in pick 56, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Maxwell Hairston at the Round 3 slot is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Steal is underselling it; Evan Stewart at Round 4, Pick 24 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
