Boards are made to be trusted, and the Packers shredded theirs for Donovan Jennings. He came off 72 spots early, and the room will hear about it. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B-.
They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it. That is a safety worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with cornerback chief among the fixes.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 28 they get a building block for the line at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
A conviction pick on Javon Bullard at the 41st pick that the board grades a round light. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Max Melton in slot 58 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Dominick Puni. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Nothing to complain about; Devontez Walker went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They jumped the gun on Isaac Guerendo, taking him earlier than his grade liked. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Javon Foster at slot 128 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Trevin Wallace in the Round 4 slot, miles early. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Jordan Magee in pick No. 169 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
Joe Milton III at the 202nd overall pick is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Value said wait; Donovan Jennings in Round 6, Pick 44 says they were not listening. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A tidy bit of business in the 245th pick, where Trey Taylor graded well above the range. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
Ryan Watts is a better player than No. 248 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
The board had Tyler Owens higher than pick 255, and the safety fell to them anyway. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
