Call it larceny. Kamal Hadden sat on the board until the Round 6 slot, and the Packers did not need to be asked twice.
The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. The Wallace pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. On the needs board they went 4 of 8, with cornerback the one that mattered most.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 25th pick they get a home-run threat at receiver, reach and all.
They took Edgerrin Cooper at par in the Round 2 slot, which is nothing to complain about. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Kiran Amegadjie in pick No. 58 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Max Melton slid further than he should have, and pick 88 is lovely value for the cornerback. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Christian Mahogany in No. 91 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Isaac Guerendo at the 126th overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Value with a capital V on Tykee Smith in Round 5, Pick 33, a genuine coup. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
A cornerback of that caliber at slot 202 is the definition of value, full stop. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Trevin Wallace at pick 219 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
A premium they did not need to pay, Tyler Owens a notch or two before his time. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
Ryan Watts in No. 255 is fair value, right on his grade. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
