Green Bay Packers

The Packers did the meat-and-potatoes work well: B-.

Somehow the biggest item on the list survived the weekend. The Packers never addressed edge rusher, and it is the kind of gap that lingers. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.

They are betting Bishop proves the room right and everyone else wrong. On value alone, Thomas Jr. makes the weekend a net positive.

A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.25 · Pick 25 · Quinyon Mitchell · CB · rank 19
Nothing to complain about; Quinyon Mitchell went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R2.9 · Pick 41 · Brian Thomas Jr. · WR · rank 27
A slide stopped in Round 2, Pick 9, with Brian Thomas Jr. worth more than the price. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
R2.26 · Pick 58 · Payton Wilson · LB · rank 57
Payton Wilson at pick 58 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It adds depth where they could use a little.
R3.25 · Pick 88 · Christian Mahogany · OG · rank 98
A premium they did not need to pay, Christian Mahogany a notch or two before his time. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R3.28 · Pick 91 · Cole Bishop · S · rank 105
They jumped the gun on Cole Bishop, taking him earlier than his grade liked. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
R4.26 · Pick 126 · Christian Jones · OT · rank 132
No edge and no loss on Christian Jones in pick No. 126; it is a wash and a sensible one. It fills a real need, too.
R5.33 · Pick 169 · Walter Rouse · OT · rank 163
A tidy little value on Walter Rouse in the 169th overall pick, a step better than break-even. A need, and now a little less of one.
R6.27 · Pick 202 · Steele Chambers · LB · rank 199
Steele Chambers at the Round 6 slot is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
R6.44 · Pick 219 · Trevin Wallace · LB · rank 233
Trevin Wallace in slot 219 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
R7.25 · Pick 245 · Kimani Vidal · RB · rank 253
A reach for Kimani Vidal in No. 245; a little patience would have been rewarded. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R7.35 · Pick 255 · Tyler Owens · S · rank 255
Tyler Owens at the Round 7 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
