The Packers spent real capital to be 34 picks early on Kimani Vidal, and the board is going to hold them to it. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up. The Jones value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. They left with cornerback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a matchup problem out wide at fair value. A real need, handled.
Nothing to complain about; Jordan Morgan went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
No drama and no debate, Christian Haynes went about where he belonged in the 58th pick. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Maason Smith at Round 3, Pick 25 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A reach on Cole Bishop in No. 91; the board had better options right there. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
A slide stopped in slot 126, with Elijah Jones worth more than the price. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They jumped the gun on Ty'Ron Hopper, taking him earlier than his grade liked. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
They talked themselves into Jordan Magee at Round 6, Pick 27, and the board did not agree. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
Kimani Vidal at slot 219 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They took Bub Means at par in pick No. 245, which is nothing to complain about. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Tyler Owens in the 255th overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
