Green Bay Packers

A respectable, level-headed haul for the Packers: B-.

The Packers' one glaring miss is edge rusher, a need they left exactly as they found it.

Hopper has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. The roster is better shaped than it was, with cornerback chief among the fixes. They bet on numbers rather than a single high pick.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.25 · Pick 25 · Quinyon Mitchell · CB · rank 20
In the 25th overall pick they get a potential shutdown corner at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
R2.9 · Pick 41 · Jordan Morgan · OT · rank 37
Jordan Morgan at the Round 2 slot is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R2.26 · Pick 58 · Xavier Legette · WR · rank 72
A reach on Xavier Legette in slot 58; the board had better options right there. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R3.28 · Pick 91 · Cole Bishop · S · rank 106
A premium they did not need to pay, Cole Bishop a notch or two before his time. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
R3.35 · Pick 98 · Christian Mahogany · OG · rank 100
No edge and no loss on Christian Mahogany in pick No. 98; it is a wash and a sensible one. A need, and now a little less of one.
R4.26 · Pick 126 · Isaac Guerendo · RB · rank 129
Isaac Guerendo in No. 126 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R5.25 · Pick 161 · Ty'Ron Hopper · LB · rank 181
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Ty'Ron Hopper. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
R5.33 · Pick 169 · Malik Mustapha · S · rank 171
By-the-book stuff, Malik Mustapha at pick 169 squarely in line with his ranking. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
R5.36 · Pick 172 · Jordan Jefferson · DT · rank 184
Jordan Jefferson in No. 172 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. The roster fit checks out.
R6.12 · Pick 187 · Tip Reiman · TE · rank 182
Tip Reiman in the 187th pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
R6.27 · Pick 202 · Joe Milton III · QB · rank 200
Joe Milton III at pick No. 202 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R6.44 · Pick 219 · Jordan Magee · LB · rank 222
They paid sticker price for Jordan Magee in the Round 6 slot, and that is fine. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
R7.25 · Pick 245 · Tyler Owens · S · rank 255
They paid up for Tyler Owens at Round 7, Pick 25 when waiting would have done the job. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
R7.35 · Pick 255 · Kimani Vidal · RB · rank 252
A clean, defensible pick in slot 255 with a little surplus value in Kimani Vidal. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
