There is a lot to like until you notice quarterback is still a hole. The Packers never got to the one that mattered most. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.
They will need Hopper to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. Getting Turner where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. They went 6 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 25th pick they get a double-digit-sack hope, and a steal at that. Exactly the need they had to hit.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Xavier Legette in No. 41. The roster fit checks out.
Kiran Amegadjie at the Round 2 slot jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. It fills a real need, too.
They jumped the gun on Christian Mahogany, taking him earlier than his grade liked. A need, and now a little less of one.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Calen Bullock in pick 91. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
A quiet steal in Round 4, Pick 26: Elijah Jones for less than the market said. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A reach on Ty'Ron Hopper in slot 169; the board had better options right there. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Logan Lee at the 202nd overall pick is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A market-rate linebacker, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jordan Magee. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
The board had cheaper options than Kimani Vidal at pick No. 245, and it noticed. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Tyler Owens at the 255th overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
