Nobody else had Eyabi Okie-Anoma anywhere near the Round 6 slot. The Packers did, by 83 spots, and that gap is the whole story. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.
On value alone, Walker makes the weekend a net positive. They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
Job largely done: edge rusher settled and 5 of 8 of the wish list covered.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 25 they get a blindside protector. A real need, handled.
A premium they did not need to pay, Edgerrin Cooper a notch or two before his time. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Kiran Amegadjie at pick 60 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A clean, defensible pick in the 88th overall pick with a little surplus value in Calen Bullock. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Devontez Walker at the 91st pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Elijah Jones is a better player than Round 4, Pick 26 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Christian Jones. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Ty'Ron Hopper. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
They paid sticker price for Malik Mustapha in pick 169, and that is fine. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
They reached into another round for Eyabi Okie-Anoma, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Kimani Vidal in the Round 6 slot, miles early. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Trevin Wallace at slot 245 is the proof. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
Bub Means at the 255th overall pick is money in the bank, a wide receiver taken below his worth. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
