Thirty-one other rooms let Sedrick Van Pran slide, and the Packers were the ones holding the card at the 91st overall pick. Highway robbery. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.
They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Every board in the league had Magee lower, and that gap is the story.
They left with edge rusher solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off. The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 25 they get a disruptor off the edge at a price that makes it sweeter. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
A clean, defensible pick in the 41st pick with a little surplus value in Jordan Morgan. The roster fit checks out.
Kris Jenkins is a better player than the 58th pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They took Dadrion Taylor-Demerson at par in pick No. 88, which is nothing to complain about. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Sedrick Van Pran in the 91st overall pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They liked Jarrian Jones enough to skip the value, taking him in pick 126. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Malik Mustapha at the Round 5 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Jordan Magee. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Trevin Wallace at slot 219 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
The board had cheaper options than Kimani Vidal at Round 7, Pick 25, and it noticed. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Bub Means in the Round 7 slot is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
