There is a lot to like until you notice quarterback is still a hole. The Packers never got to the one that mattered most. The bottom line is a respectable B-.
The Wallace reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. The Means pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 25th pick they get a problem off the edge at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
They liked Edgerrin Cooper enough to skip the value, taking him in the Round 2 slot. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
They jumped the gun on Kiran Amegadjie, taking him earlier than his grade liked. It fills a real need, too.
No drama and no debate, Dadrion Taylor-Demerson went about where he belonged in the 88th overall pick. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Dominick Puni in No. 91 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They paid up for Jarrian Jones at Round 4, Pick 26 when waiting would have done the job. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A straight-up fair deal on Malik Mustapha at pick No. 169, value and slot in agreement. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
They paid a round early for Logan Lee in slot 202, more than the board wanted. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Trevin Wallace in the 219th overall pick is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
A reach for Kimani Vidal in pick No. 245; a little patience would have been rewarded. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Bub Means slipping to Round 7, Pick 35 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. The roster fit checks out.
