The Packers went off the board in a big way for Kimani Vidal, 34 picks early. Conviction is one thing; this is another. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B-.
That is a linebacker worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 25 they get a matchup problem out wide. A clean fit for the roster.
Edgerrin Cooper at the 41st pick jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. A minor need, but a need all the same.
They robbed the room for Jordan Morgan here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Nothing to complain about; Calen Bullock went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It adds depth where they could use a little.
They took Dominick Puni at par in the 91st overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They went early on Jarrian Jones in Round 4, Pick 26, and the value did not follow. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A reach for Jordan Jefferson in No. 169; a little patience would have been rewarded. The roster fit checks out.
No edge and no loss on Jared Wiley in slot 202; it is a wash and a sensible one. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Kimani Vidal at the Round 6 slot is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They barely believed it either: Jordan Magee still on the board at pick No. 245. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Bub Means at the 255th overall pick. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
