The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Packers watched Frank Gore Jr. slide 29 picks past his grade and did not hesitate. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.
That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. They are betting Bishop proves the room right and everyone else wrong. Job largely done: cornerback settled and 5 of 8 of the wish list covered.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 25th overall pick they get a matchup problem out wide. A clean fit for the roster.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Jackson Powers-Johnson at slot 41 is the proof. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Payton Wilson in Round 2, Pick 26 is fair value, right on his grade. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Michael Hall Jr. in pick 88 lands just on the right side of the ledger. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Cole Bishop at No. 91 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
The board had cheaper options than Jarrian Jones at pick No. 126, and it noticed. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They robbed the room for Trevor Keegan here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. The roster fit checks out.
A premium they did not need to pay, Caedan Wallace a notch or two before his time. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Jordan Magee in slot 219 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
Tyler Owens in pick 245 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
Frank Gore Jr. at pick No. 255 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
