Every other box got a look, but edge rusher did not. The Packers will head to camp with the same hole they walked in with.
If Wallace pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. Landing Means that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. Cornerback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
Graham Barton in pick 25 is fair value, right on his grade. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A reach on Edgerrin Cooper in Round 2, Pick 9; the board had better options right there. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
No drama and no debate, Kingsley Suamataia went about where he belonged in the 58th pick. A need, and now a little less of one.
Michael Hall Jr. at slot 88 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They paid up for Cole Bishop at the Round 3 slot when waiting would have done the job. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
They paid a round early for Jarrian Jones in pick No. 126, more than the board wanted. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Malik Mustapha at No. 169 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
Jared Wiley at the 202nd overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Trevin Wallace at the 219th pick is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
They jumped the gun on Rasheen Ali, taking him earlier than his grade liked. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Bub Means at the Round 7 slot is the proof. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
