The Packers bet big and early on Kimani Vidal, 34 picks ahead of the board. Bold does not always mean right. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.
That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. The Verse value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 25th pick they get a problem off the edge at a price that makes it sweeter. Exactly the need they had to hit.
A tidy little value on Jordan Morgan in pick 41, a step better than break-even. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Edgerrin Cooper slid further than he should have, and slot 58 is lovely value for the linebacker. A minor itch, scratched.
They paid sticker price for Dadrion Taylor-Demerson in No. 88, and that is fine. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Dominick Puni at pick No. 91 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They paid up for Jarrian Jones at the Round 4 slot when waiting would have done the job. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Value with a capital V on Tykee Smith in the 169th pick, a genuine coup. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Trevin Wallace well ahead of where he belonged. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
Kimani Vidal at the Round 6 slot is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A real head-scratcher, Trey Taylor in pick 245 is miles ahead of his ranking. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Bub Means in the 255th overall pick. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
