Larceny in pick 170 lands the Chiefs a B, Pritchett and all.

The Chiefs ran the phones like sharks, prying loose value on deal after deal until the ledger was lopsided.

That is a cornerback worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through tight end. Every board in the league had Thomas Jr. lower, and that gap is the story.

Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 4 of 8 of the wish list covered.

Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.19 · Pick 19 · Brian Thomas Jr. · WR · rank 27
In Round 1, Pick 19 they get a home-run threat at receiver, though they paid up to get him. The biggest hole, addressed.
R2.10 · Pick 42 · Patrick Paul · OT · rank 47
Patrick Paul at pick No. 42 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R2.32 · Pick 64 · Kris Jenkins · DL-EDGE · rank 43
They will replay Kris Jenkins at slot 64 for years; that is how good the value is. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R3.9 · Pick 73 · Roman Wilson · WR · rank 79
No edge and no loss on Roman Wilson in the Round 3 slot; it is a wash and a sensible one. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R3.29 · Pick 92 · Gabriel Murphy · DL-EDGE · rank 83
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Gabriel Murphy at the 92nd overall pick is the proof. The roster fit checks out.
R5.34 · Pick 170 · Nehemiah Pritchett · CB · rank 146
Nehemiah Pritchett in No. 170 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
R5.35 · Pick 171 · Braelon Allen · RB · rank 159
Braelon Allen slid further than he should have, and pick No. 171 is lovely value for the running back. It fills a real need, too.
