The Vikings spent the pick that matters most on Bo Nix, and a roster that has been waiting on a passer can start to take shape. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.
They are betting Lee proves the room right and everyone else wrong. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Watson. They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a pocket-collapsing interior rusher. A clean fit for the roster.
In pick No. 23 they get the arm they will build around at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
A slide stopped in Round 4, Pick 8, with Cam Hart worth more than the price. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Nothing to complain about; James Williams went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Nice patience on Luke McCaffrey, who had no business lasting to the 157th pick. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Dillon Johnson at slot 167 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A need, and now a little less of one.
A tidy bit of business in the 177th overall pick, where Javion Cohen graded well above the range. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Nathaniel Watson at No. 230 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
They reached a country mile for Matt Lee at pick 232, and the board is aghast. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
