They will call it conviction in the building and a reach everywhere else: Logan Jones, 77 picks early at pick 239.
If one pick saves this weekend, it is Fairchild. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 6 they get a matchup problem out wide at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
They paid up for Ozzy Trapilo at pick No. 41 when waiting would have done the job. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They will replay Sonny Styles at pick 72 for years; that is how good the value is. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Dylan Fairchild at the 86th pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They did well to land Nicholas Singleton in the 108th overall pick, just ahead of his grade. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Kevin Winston Jr. at the Round 5 slot is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They robbed the room for Jonah Monheim here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Value said wait; Luke Lachey in pick No. 223 says they were not listening. A need, and now a little less of one.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Logan Jones. The roster fit checks out.
