New York Giants

A passer of the future in Nix, and a D, for the Giants.

The Giants clearly saw something nobody else did in Taulia Tagovailoa, taking him 80 picks ahead of his grade. The board is not convinced.

They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back. The whole projection now runs through Bo Nix; hit there and everything else looks smarter. Spending an early pick on OLB-EDGE with interior defensive lineman, edge rusher and other spots open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to.

For all the activity, interior defensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain. However the rest shakes out, Barrett at that price is a win they earned.

Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, interior defensive lineman very much included.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.24 · Pick 24 · Bo Nix · QB · rank 31
In slot 24 they get the arm they will build around at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
R2.7 · Pick 39 · Troy Franklin · WR · rank 30
The board had Troy Franklin higher than pick 39, and the wide receiver fell to them anyway. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R2.15 · Pick 47 · Jonathon Brooks · RB · rank 44
Jonathon Brooks at No. 47 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R2.16 · Pick 48 · Christian Haynes · OG · rank 62
A reach on Christian Haynes in the 48th pick; the board had better options right there. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R2.24 · Pick 56 · Javon Bullard · S · rank 60
Javon Bullard in the Round 2 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R3.12 · Pick 76 · Cooper Beebe · OG · rank 75
They took Cooper Beebe at par in the 76th overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R4.8 · Pick 108 · Javon Solomon · OLB-EDGE · rank 113
They bypassed pressing needs at interior defensive lineman, edge rusher and other spots to take Javon Solomon, an OLB-EDGE that was not the priority.
R5.6 · Pick 142 · Isaiah Davis · RB · rank 163
Isaiah Davis at pick No. 142 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R6.20 · Pick 195 · Taulia Tagovailoa · QB · rank 275
They talked themselves into Taulia Tagovailoa at Round 6, Pick 20, and the board did not agree. A need, and now a little less of one.
R7.22 · Pick 242 · Michael Barrett · LB · rank 217
Michael Barrett at pick 242 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A minor itch, scratched.
