The Chiefs spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Christian Mahogany, the No. 99 name on the board, in No. 133.

They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back. For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain.

The Tyler Lockett deal gives the class an established piece to lean on. They went 4 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.

Hit on Troy Franklin and the swing picks, and this ages a lot better than it grades today.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.32 · Pick 32 · Troy Franklin · WR · rank 30
They paid sticker price for Troy Franklin in pick 32, and that is fine. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R2.32 · Pick 64 · Ladd McConkey · WR · rank 32
Ladd McConkey in the 64th overall pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R3.17 · Pick 81 · Blake Fisher · OT · rank 70
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Blake Fisher at the 81st pick is the proof. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R3.32 · Pick 95 · Bralen Trice · DE-EDGE · rank 69
You do not let an edge rusher like Bralen Trice reach Round 3, Pick 32 and blink. They did not. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R4.33 · Pick 133 · Christian Mahogany · OG · rank 99
A top-tier offensive lineman at a bargain, Christian Mahogany in slot 133, plain and simple. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R5.22 · Pick 158 · Justin Eboigbe · DL-EDGE · rank 150
Nice patience on Justin Eboigbe, who had no business lasting to pick No. 158. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R5.36 · Pick 172 · Dallin Holker · TE · rank 158
A slide stopped in the Round 5 slot, with Dallin Holker worth more than the price. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
