The Chiefs spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Christian Mahogany, the No. 99 name on the board, in No. 133.
They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back. For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain.
The Tyler Lockett deal gives the class an established piece to lean on. They went 4 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
Hit on Troy Franklin and the swing picks, and this ages a lot better than it grades today.

They paid sticker price for Troy Franklin in pick 32, and that is fine. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Ladd McConkey in the 64th overall pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Blake Fisher at the 81st pick is the proof. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
You do not let an edge rusher like Bralen Trice reach Round 3, Pick 32 and blink. They did not. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
