The value of the weekend has a name and a slot: Brandon Coleman, pick 158, roughly 55 picks past where he belonged.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up. Edge rusher is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 21 they get a run-stuffing presence up front at a price that makes it sweeter. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Christian Haynes at the 55th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They will replay Brandon Coleman at Round 5, Pick 22 for years; that is how good the value is. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Taking Xavier Thomas in the 184th overall pick is close to grand larceny; an edge rusher that good had no business lasting this long. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Myles Harden in No. 198 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It adds depth where they could use a little.
No edge and no loss on Tyler Owens in the Round 7 slot; it is a wash and a sensible one. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
