Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Eagles were there to profit. Tahj Brooks, the No. 119 name on the board, should have been long gone before the 153rd overall pick. It nets out a thoroughly average C.
The trade table is where this weekend went wrong. The interior defensive lineman hole is the one line item this class does not answer. On the needs board they went 7 of 9, with cornerback the one that mattered most.
They trusted the board more than the depth chart.
It nets out as a middle-of-the-pack haul that neither helps nor hurts much.
Pick-by-Pick
No drama and no debate, Landon Jackson went about where he belonged in the 38th overall pick. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Mitchell Evans in No. 57 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Danny Stutsman at Round 3, Pick 6 is money in the bank, a linebacker taken below his worth. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Josh Simmons at pick No. 86 is the proof. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Nice patience on Sebastian Castro, who had no business lasting to slot 89. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A slide stopped in pick 134, with Riley Mahlman worth more than the price. A need, and now a little less of one.
Collin Oliver is a better player than the Round 5 slot suggests; smart patience, rewarded. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
A safety of that caliber at the 141st pick is the definition of value, full stop. The roster fit checks out.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Jonah Monheim at slot 151. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A reasonable price with a little left over, DJ Campbell in pick 152. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Tahj Brooks in the 153rd pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It fills a real need, too.
Value with a capital V on Gentry Williams in the Round 6 slot, a genuine coup. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Jake Briningstool in Round 6, Pick 25 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Armand Membou at the 202nd overall pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A tidy bit of business in No. 205, where Tristan Leigh graded well above the range. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A quiet steal in pick No. 213: Traeshon Holden for less than the market said. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
