You can fall in love with a player. You are not supposed to marry him in the wrong round. The Packers did exactly that with Evan Anderson in pick 219. Good, not great, and the B says as much.
The Jones value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher.
The Nick Folk deal gives the class an established piece to lean on.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 25th overall pick they get a building block for the line, outstanding value to boot.
Nate Wiggins at Round 2, Pick 9 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A top-tier cornerback at a bargain, Kool-Aid McKinstry in pick No. 58, plain and simple. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Ricky Pearsall in the 88th pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Kingsley Suamataia at pick 91 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A tidy bit of business in slot 127, where Cole Bishop graded well above the range. A minor itch, scratched.
A quiet steal in Round 5, Pick 32: Mason McCormick for less than the market said. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Steal is underselling it; Jarrian Jones at the 204th pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They reached into another round for Evan Anderson, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It fills a real need, too.
By-the-book stuff, Edefuan Ulofoshio at pick No. 243 squarely in line with his ranking. A minor need, but a need all the same.
They will replay Rasheen Ali at the Round 7 slot for years; that is how good the value is. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
