Call it belief, call it a gut call, but Xavier Thomas at pick 245 is 33 spots clear of consensus, and that is the headline. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through quarterback. The Wilson steal is the beam this whole class leans on.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
Chop Robinson at the 35th overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Tyler Guyton in slot 56. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A conviction pick on Trey Benson at Round 3, Pick 2 that the board grades a round light. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Payton Wilson slipping to pick No. 87 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Leonard Taylor III in the Round 4 slot. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
J. Michael Sturdivant in the 174th pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
The board had Justin Walley higher than pick No. 212, and the cornerback fell to them anyway. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Value said wait; Xavier Thomas in slot 245 says they were not listening. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
