This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Kaleb Johnson, the No. 51 name on the board, stolen at the 169th overall pick.
That wide receiver hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Linebacker was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
Value over need was the throughline, for better and worse.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Ashton Jeanty at the 11th overall pick is the proof. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Landon Jackson at the Round 2 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Fair-plus on Kenneth Grant, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Steal is underselling it; Deone Walker at the 149th pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Kaleb Johnson in slot 169 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. The roster fit checks out.
Taking Cody Simon in pick 170 is close to grand larceny; a linebacker that good had no business lasting this long. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Jordan Hancock at pick No. 171 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A minor need, but a need all the same.
You do not let a running back like TreVeyon Henderson reach Round 6, Pick 11 and blink. They did not. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
No edge and no loss on Hunter Wohler in the 209th overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
