Dallas Cowboys

Best value of the weekend goes to the Cowboys for Majors: B-.

Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Cowboys were there to profit. Jake Majors, the No. 65 name on the board, should have been long gone before No. 209. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.

Reaching for Howard left real value on the table behind him. They punted on wide receiver, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.

A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.12 · Pick 12 · Ashton Jeanty · RB · rank 2
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Ashton Jeanty at the Round 1 slot is the proof. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R2.14 · Pick 46 · DJ Campbell · OG · rank 44
DJ Campbell in the 46th overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R2.27 · Pick 59 · Alfred Collins · DL · rank 97
A real head-scratcher, Alfred Collins in Round 2, Pick 27 is miles ahead of his ranking. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R3.34 · Pick 98 · Rylie Mills · DL · rank 125
A big swing on Rylie Mills at No. 98, well ahead of any board in the building. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R3.35 · Pick 99 · Kaleb Johnson · RB · rank 51
A top-tier running back at a bargain, Kaleb Johnson in pick No. 99, plain and simple. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R5.10 · Pick 148 · TreVeyon Henderson · RB · rank 72
TreVeyon Henderson in slot 148 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. The roster fit checks out.
R5.11 · Pick 149 · Gunnar Helm · TE · rank 187
Value said wait; Gunnar Helm in pick 149 says they were not listening. It fills a real need, too.
R5.14 · Pick 152 · Cobee Bryant · CB · rank 168
A reach on Cobee Bryant in the 152nd pick; the board had better options right there. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R5.31 · Pick 169 · Lathan Ransom · S · rank 145
They will replay Lathan Ransom at Round 5, Pick 31 for years; that is how good the value is. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
R5.32 · Pick 170 · Jordan Hancock · S · rank 144
Steal is underselling it; Jordan Hancock at pick 170 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
R5.33 · Pick 171 · Will Howard · QB · rank 237
They reached into another round for Will Howard, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R5.34 · Pick 172 · Rod Moore · S · rank 203
Rod Moore in No. 172 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
R6.11 · Pick 186 · Danny Stutsman · LB · rank 95
You do not let a linebacker like Danny Stutsman reach the 186th overall pick and blink. They did not. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R6.34 · Pick 209 · Jake Majors · C · rank 65
Jake Majors in slot 209 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R7.14 · Pick 228 · Terrance Ferguson · TE · rank 278
Terrance Ferguson at pick No. 228 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
