The search is over. The Commanders handed the keys to Jayden Daniels, and the whole operation now runs on his development.
Reaching for Ali left real value on the table behind him. That Dixon pick is the receipt they will wave around later. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through tight end.
Good work on the whole, with tight end the one box left unchecked.

No drama and no debate, Jayden Daniels went about where he belonged in the 2nd pick. It fills a real need, too.
A premium they did not need to pay, Keon Coleman a notch or two before his time. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Kiran Amegadjie at slot 40 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Marshawn Kneeland at the 78th overall pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A quiet steal in No. 100: Kris Abrams-Draine for less than the market said. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A reach for Trevor Keegan in pick 139; a little patience would have been rewarded. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Value said wait; Rasheen Ali in Round 5, Pick 16 says they were not listening. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Somehow Johnny Dixon was still sitting there in the Round 7 slot, and they pounced on premier cornerback value. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
