The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Chargers reached some 35 spots for Stefon Thompson, and value like that does not grow back. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.
Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. The veteran additions, Jahmyr Gibbs chief among them, give the class a floor the rookies alone would not.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 5 they get a mismatch in the passing game. A real need, handled.
They took Brenden Rice at par in slot 69, which is nothing to complain about. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Jacob Cowing in the Round 4 slot is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They paid sticker price for Dylan Laube in No. 152, and that is fine. A need, and now a little less of one.
They reached into another round for Stefon Thompson, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. Hard to map this one onto the depth chart at all.
