They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. J.J. McCarthy is the Patriots' quarterback, full stop.

The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. The Polk pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch.

They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it. Spann-Ford has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.

It is not that Jackson is a bad player; it is that the Patriots had louder needs to answer first.

In the end it comes back to J.J. McCarthy, and a haul good enough to build on right away.
