The Patriots clearly saw something nobody else did in Isaac Guerendo, taking him 77 picks ahead of his grade. The board is not convinced. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.
A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want. On value alone, Guyton makes the weekend a net positive.
The dealing tilted against them, just enough to notice.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 6 they get a long-term starter on the line at fair value.
Xavier Legette at the Round 2 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Tyler Guyton at No. 52. A need, and now a little less of one.
They reached a country mile for Spencer Rattler at pick No. 68, and the board is aghast. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Khyree Jackson in the 104th overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
They paid up for Renardo Green at the 136th pick when waiting would have done the job. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
No edge and no loss on Delmar Glaze in Round 6, Pick 7; it is a wash and a sensible one. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Jared Wiley at the 185th overall pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Isaac Guerendo in slot 198, miles early. It fills a real need, too.
They reached into another round for Zakhari Franklin, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
