The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Commanders spent their marquee pick on Jayden Daniels, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback.
Every board in the league had Jones lower, and that gap is the story. They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. Latu at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster.
A whole weekend of picks and running back is somehow still a want.
Add it up and this is about as clean as a draft weekend gets.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 11th pick they get a franchise quarterback at fair value.
In slot 23 they get a premier pass rusher, outstanding value to boot. A clean fit for the roster.
By-the-book stuff, Ja'Tavion Sanders at the Round 2 slot squarely in line with his ranking. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A tidy little value on Ennis Rakestraw Jr. in pick 40, a step better than break-even. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A slide stopped in pick No. 67, with Payton Wilson worth more than the price. A minor itch, scratched.
Kiran Amegadjie in No. 78 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A reach for Matt Goncalves in Round 3, Pick 37; a little patience would have been rewarded. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A real head-scratcher, Roger Rosengarten in the 108th overall pick is miles ahead of his ranking. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
No drama and no debate, Tommy Eichenberg went about where he belonged in pick 139. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
Fair-plus on Luke McCaffrey, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Value said wait; Matthew Jones in the 222nd overall pick says they were not listening. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
