Every swap seemed to tilt away from the Chiefs, and the value they bled adds up to real damage. A weekend of give and take that grades a C+.
The cost of the Dankwah reach is exactly the players who went right after him. Landing Kamara that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 4 of 8 of the wish list covered.
Call it incomplete, and check back in a couple of seasons.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 32nd pick they get a potential shutdown corner at a price that makes it sweeter.
They let Xavier Worthy come to them and pounced at Round 2, Pick 32. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Patrick Paul at pick No. 75 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the offensive lineman. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A quiet steal in the 132nd overall pick: Theo Johnson for less than the market said. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A top-tier edge rusher at a bargain, Mohamed Kamara in pick 159, plain and simple. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Trente Jones in No. 173, miles early. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Anim Dankwah in the 252nd overall pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
