The Patriots spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Kamal Hadden, the No. 168 name on the board, in slot 231. The sum of the weekend is a deserved A-.
Drake Maye gives the offense a face and a plan, and the grade leans heavily on whether he hits. They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. They will regret leaving interior defensive lineman for another day if the season turns on it.
In short, they turned a good board into a better roster, and it shows.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get their quarterback of the future at a price that makes it sweeter. A clean fit for the roster.
By-the-book stuff, Jordan Morgan at No. 34 squarely in line with his ranking. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A slide stopped in pick No. 68, with T.J. Tampa worth more than the price. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
You do not let a safety like Jaden Hicks reach the Round 4 slot and blink. They did not. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A clean, defensible pick in Round 5, Pick 1 with a little surplus value in Jamari Thrash. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
No drama and no debate, Ty'Ron Hopper went about where he belonged in slot 180. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Myles Cole in the 193rd overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Somehow Kamal Hadden was still sitting there in pick 231, and they pounced on premier cornerback value. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
