Somebody in pick 98 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Dolphins sat still while Cade Klubnik, the No. 30 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. It nets out to a B+, which feels about right.
They are betting Dellinger proves the room right and everyone else wrong. They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
They paid sticker price for Wyatt Milum in pick No. 19, and that is fine. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Deone Walker at No. 45. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
You do not let a quarterback like Cade Klubnik reach the 98th pick and blink. They did not. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Shavon Revel Jr. at the 99th overall pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
They barely believed it either: Evan Stewart still on the board at Round 4, Pick 13. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A wild overpay on Garrett Dellinger in the Round 5 slot, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A tidy little value on Woody Marks in slot 152, a step better than break-even. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A top-tier quarterback at a bargain, Brady Cook in pick 168, plain and simple. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
No edge and no loss on Hunter Wohler in pick 169; it is a wash and a sensible one. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Kurtis Rourke in the 227th overall pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Caden Prieskorn this early at Round 7, Pick 18. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
The board had cheaper options than Jimmy Horn Jr. at the Round 7 slot, and it noticed. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
