The rest of the league will want that one back. KeAndre Lambert-Smith tumbling to the Patriots in the Round 7 slot is a gift they did not have to think twice about.

The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up. Josh Downs gives the group a proven body among the projects.

Stockpiling next year's capital is patient, if unglamorous, asset work.

Bottom line, they did the job about as well as it can be done.
